The Department of Health — Eastern Visayas Center for Health Development would like to inform the public that the confirmatory testing of COVID-19 samples in Eastern Visayas Regional COVID-19 Testing Center (EVRCTC) is put on HOLD due to the shortage of extraction and detection kits which is utilized in processing and identifying the virus.
Delivery of said kits was delayed because flights to the region were suspended due to typhoon “AMBO”. Currently, the kits are still in Vilamor Airbase in Manila.
Rest assured that DOH Regional Surveillance Unit is still accepting swab samples from different health facilities. These samples are then sent to EVRCTC for proper identification and storage, until tests can resume.
As of today (May 20,2020) the results for 536 samples are still pending in EVRCTC.
With the increased demand for confirmatory testing in the region, we humbly encourage the different Local Government Units to help provide testing kits to the EVRCTC.
